Jennifer Aicher Powell
Jennifer Aicher Powell has traveled worldwide as an oceanographer, and settled in the Florida Panhandle. Becoming a mother after leaving an established career, she began writing children’s books for her daughter while teaching weekly preschool story & craft classes. Backyard chickens led to writing the Bill the Duck series, which then led to acquiring a small farm in order to have ducks of his breed. From chickens and ducks, they now have pigs, cows, goats, turkeys, guinea fowl, geese, etc. As a self published author, her biggest expense is often art, so she uses a combination of other artists, as well as her own. Jennifer's other children’s books bridge a number of subjects, both serious and fantastical. She is most proud of her book A Home for Bessie, which tells the story of a young girl making her way through the foster care system. An avid reader, Jennifer is first and foremost a scientist, so writing mysteries came naturally. A series of Christian cozies is slowly being released under the name J. Louise Powell. Cozies are formula mysteries with female protagonists who tend to stumble into sleuthing. These are based in the semi-fictional community of Lost Key. All her books in print are available at Artworks and on Amazon in multiple formats.
